Casino Royale: An Amazing Bond Reboot And A Great Casino Movie

About six months ago, I finally managed to see Casino Royale (2006), a movie I have been dying to see for years. As a man who enjoys playing the slots, I was thrilled when I first saw the trailer. That’s because much of the story takes place in an amazing looking casino, and I love casinos.  I must admit that I have not seen the older Bond movies, but that was not a problem, as this movie was actually a reboot of the series. This means that it doesn’t matter if you have not seen any of the older films, as they have absolutely no connection to this one.

If you haven’t seen it yet, you should know that the movie offers over 2 hours of incredible action. The story is extremely well written and you just can’t help but get caught in it. Every plot twist is thrilling and it was almost as if I was feeling Bond’s pain whenever he encountered a setback. As far as action flicks go, this one was extremely powerful and quite deep. In fact, for me it was a bit inspiring.

As I have mentioned before, I am quite a bit of a gambler. But, as an American, I thought the most exciting gambling action takes place in Las Vegas, Atlantic City and other places this side of the Atlantic Ocean. However, Casino Royale takes place in Montenegro. That’s in Eastern Europe and I had no idea they had casinos there, let alone luxurious ones like the one in the movie. I later did a background check and found out that the filming didn’t actually take place in Montenegro, but I had already made my decision: I wanted to see what the rest of the world had to offer when it comes to casinos.

In the six months since I saw the movie, I gambled in casinos around the world, including locations like South America, Western and Eastern Europe, Australia and even Japan. And while I still like Vegas the most, I must admit that each and every one of these places has its own unique charm. For example, I have never seen a casino more luxurious with more high rollers than I have seen in Monaco. Also, language does not present a barrier, as just about all dealers and many of the best players you’ll meet speak English.

You may think that getting inspired to take a trip around the world just from watching a movie might be a bit too much, but there was something in the way they depicted the casino. There was always luxury, a bit of danger, excitement and a lot of fun. Daniel Craig played the part extremely well and it just made me want to put on a tuxedo and roll as high as I possibly could. And that was owed largely to the great cinematography used in Casino Royale. If you haven’t seen it yet, you should definitely go for it.
